The 6th Annual Visitor Information Centre Summit - 2006

Halls Gap, The Grampians

August 2-4, 2006

The Faces of Victoria join up in Halls Gap

More than 90 Visitor Information Centre managers and staff from across the state, Tasmania, Queensland and the Northern Territory gathered in Halls Gap recently for the 6th annual Visitor Information Centre Summit.

The three day event included key presentations and discussion sessions on issues currently affecting Victoria’s Visitor Information Centres, familiarization tours of the region as well as opportunities for the managers to network and establish key relationships within the Visitor Services Network.

Key topics were raised at the Summit including the importance of an online presence, development and relocation of VICs, complaints handling and the current funding threat many VICs face.

Rated by some as the “Best Summit ever” the event certainly raised the bar for future Summits to come.

Experience the Region

On Wednesday, 2nd August, many of the delegates experienced a FREE familiarisation tour of the Grampians Region, with the choice of one of three famils.

All of the famils showcased key products of the Grampians Region and provided delegates with great product knowledge to pass onto staff, volunteers and visitors.

Images of the famils can be found in the photos section.

Program

Throughout the Summit delegates heard from a range of key note speakers discussing relevant VIC issues and participated in a range of disucssion sessions.  For a copy of the VIC Summit brochure Click Here
