On Wednesday 25 March more than 600 students, lecturers and industry professionals attended the inaugural Tourism Student Summit. Held at Melbourne Park Function Centre the attendees heard from twelve leading Victorian and interstate tourism professionals, government representatives and industry experts. On offer were networking tips, ideas of how to get into the tourism industry, explanations of who does what in tourism, new developments in the Australian tourism industry, personal stories shared experiences from life and careers, volunteering opportunities, and inspiring presentations from current tourism leaders. This year’s forum will encompass themes and topics including:
The line up of presenters and workshop conveners will include Victorian and interstate tourism professionals, government representatives and industry experts. It is envisaged that in time this Summit will be considered part of the annual tourism curriculum.
Who should Attend? Post Graduate and Undergraduate tourism University and TAFE students, University and TAFE lecturers and leading tourism professionals will be in attendance at the Summit. The informal networking luncheon will also attract tourism operators, government representatives, our guest speakers, Visitor Information Centre Managers and Event Managers.

Objectives The one day summit will provide networking opportunities for Post Graduate and Undergraduate University and TAFE students with Tourism Industry Professionals. It will also encourage them to seek prosperous careers in tourism by providing inspiring presentations from Victorian and interstate tourism professionals, government representatives and industry experts .
