Tourism Alliance moves to new Victoria Tourism Industry Council structure

Work has been underway for some months now to restructure the representation of the tourism industry in Victoria and create a single, united representative body that will advocate collectively to all levels of Government and work with businesses to improve industry professionalism, profitability, development and sustainability.

Tourism Alliance Victoria has been working closely with the Hotel, Motel & Accommodation Association of Victoria, the Backpacker Operators Alliance of Victoria, the Victoria Events Industry Council and the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry towards achieving this objective, ensuring that the new peak body is truly representative of the tourism industry in Victoria.

To this end, the board of Tourism Alliance Victoria announced at the 2010 Annual General Meeting its resolution to “cease the operations of Tourism Alliance Victoria Limited at a time and in a manner that will facilitate the development of the new entity as Victoria’s leading tourism industry representative body.”

Since then, the Tourism Alliance Victoria board has spent considerable time in due diligence and planning and we are now in a position to progress with the facilitation of the new industry, fully independent, not-for-profit representative body. The board has resolved to place all its assets into a trust that will be Tourism Alliance's legacy to industry. Our intention is that this trust will be used to provide ongoing professional development support to industry in the form of a new fellowship program.

Tourism Alliance members are now able to transition their current membership over to the new peak body, the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC).

  VTIC – YOUR BIGGEST ADVOCATE

The Victoria Tourism Industry Council is all about Your Industry, Your Business and Your People. Six carefully developed policy committees representing key sectors of the tourism & events industry underpin VTIC’s structure. VTIC is a single focused voice for these six key sectors: Events, Accommodation, Attractions, Tourism Services, Tour & Transport and Destinations and is a powerful ally for tourism & events businesses at all levels, from B&B’s to major attractions, event facilities or tourism infrastructure providers.

BE AT THE TABLE, NOT ON THE MENU

The tourism & events industry is one of Victoria’s major employers and creates significant wealth for communities, regions and Victoria as a whole. In challenging times when governments at local, state and federal level are faced with competing demands on their resources, it’s vital that the industry has a considered and concerted voice. VTIC represents this unifying voice and works as a respected advocate, supporter of industry and a partner of your business to help you effectively manage your team of tourism professionals.

ACTIVE ADVOCACY

VTIC is Victoria’s peak leadership organisation working for your industry, your business and your people. VTIC actively lobby various levels of government to ensure tourism in Victoria receives the attention and support it deserves. VTIC is so much more than a representative organisation and offers pertinent up-to-the-moment news and information, opportunities to connect with others in the industry, fully accredited training for tourism professionals at every level, and invaluable workplace & employer advice to help Victorian tourism and events businesses stay ahead of the game.
