What do we do?

The services and functions that we provide are designed to help members enhance their tourism businesses. These include:

  • Workshops to help build knowledge and understanding of compliance and legislative and licence requirements affecting small businesses;

  • Specific business advice for product development and packaging;
  • Facilitate business networks, and

  • Timely information and communication.

Our workshops cover topics such as:

  • Sustaining your Tourism Business;

  • Starting Up in Tourism;

  • Risk Management;

  • Adventure Tourism;

We offer strategic and development assistance to member tourist associations and tourism umbrella groups, including:

  • Developing a strategic direction for tourism on a regional basis;

  • Developing effective local and regional tourism associations that have pragmatic structures and that work to an agreed plan;

  • Managing the relationships between local/regional tourism associations, local councils and the broader community;

  • Accessing workshop facilitators who understand the regional tourism system and can motivate and deliver outcomes.

On a broader level, we represent our members’ concerns directly to state and local government on a range of issues from:

  • Tourism policy;

  • Economic development;

  • Insurance and professional idemnity;

  • Regional infrastructure and services;

  • Licensing reforms across government agencies such as

  • Parks Victoria, DSE, and Marine Safety Victoria and WorkSafe Victoria; and

  • Codes of conduct.

Together, we are building a stronger tourism industry.
