Are you prepared for the bushfire season?

Tourism Alliance Victoria in conjunction with Tourism Victoria ran free bushfire preparedness workshops in early December 2007 to assist tourism businesses be better prepared for, and able to recover from, bushfires.

The workshops assisted tourism businesses to:

  • Understand how a bushfire in their region could affect their business
  • Identify how to protect their physical, business and financial well being
  • Look at the financial implications for their businesses
  • Ensure they have the appropriate insurance coverage
  • Develop contingency plans for crisis events
  • Provide accurate and positive messages to media
  • Identify their support network

All handouts and presentations have been made available below.  Additional links and emergency contacts are also listed.  The information below has been broken down into the five areas covered in the workshops - community safety in the context of a bushfire, bushfire disaster planning from an insurance perspective, bushfires and holiday cancellations, business continuity in the event of a bushfire and working with the media.

Contact the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667 for up to date information on total fire bans, fire restrictions and major fires.
