Tourism's downward trend

Tourism is a fickle business. It is vulnerable to many externalities not the least of which maybe the hike in the price of fuel. While Victoria has seen growth in both international and interstate visitor numbers since 1999, the most recent data shows a significant decline in visitors to the state and their length of stay. In a presentation at the VTIC forum on Tuesday 27th September 2005, Tourism Victoria provided a snapshot of the current state of play with regard to Tourism nationally and domestically. The results..."we live in interesting times."
