- September 2004 saw a small 1.2% increase in international visitor
numbers over September 2003.
- Our previously strong performers- Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and
Singapore all under performing compared to this time last year.
- Falls were also recorded in Europe and the USA.
- New Zealand, Japan and China provided growth along with Thailand
(up 42%), although Thailand comes off a low base.
- In the period January- September, total visitor numbers were up by
12.7% on this period last year.
- The Tourism Forecasting Council is predicting increased growth of
9.9% for 2004 over 2003 despite increased oil prices.
